General Terms and Conditions – Bridgeman Antiques
These are the general terms and conditions of Bridgeman Antiques, operating under the name Bridgeman Antiques, established in the Netherlands and registered with the Chamber of Commerce under the registration number: 82790434.

Bridgeman Antiques reserves the right to amend these general terms and conditions. The most recent version shall always apply to every agreement, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Article 1 – Definitions
In these terms, the following definitions apply:

Bridgeman Antiques: seller and contractor.

Buyer / Client: any natural person or legal entity entering into an agreement with Bridgeman Antiques.

Consumer: buyer acting for private purposes.

Business customer: buyer acting in the course of a profession or business.
-
Agreement: any purchase agreement, assignment, reservation, delivery, or service between parties.
-
Goods: all items supplied by Bridgeman Antiques, including antiques, vintage items, art, decoration, furniture, and related objects.
Article 2 – Applicability
These general terms and conditions apply to all offers, quotations, sales, deliveries, consignments, reservations, assignments, and agreements of Bridgeman Antiques.
Deviations are only valid if confirmed in writing.
Any terms and conditions of the buyer are expressly rejected unless accepted in writing.
Article 3 – Offers and quotations
All offers, advertisements, price statements, and quotations are non-binding.
Obvious errors, mistakes, or typographical errors do not bind Bridgeman Antiques.
An offer applies only to the specific transaction and not automatically to future transactions.
Images, descriptions, dimensions, and colors are indicative.
Article 4 – Antiques, vintage, and used goods
Bridgeman Antiques mainly sells antique, vintage, and used goods.
These goods almost always show signs of age, restorations, wear, imperfections, and normal usage consistent with age and use.
This does not, in principle, constitute a defect.
The buyer is deemed to be aware of this and to agree to it.
Bridgeman Antiques provides descriptions to the best of its knowledge and belief but does not guarantee exact dating, origin, maker, period style, or authenticity unless explicitly guaranteed in writing.
Article 5 – Formation of agreement
An agreement is concluded as soon as:
-
the buyer gives verbal or written consent;
-
the buyer places an order;
-
the buyer pays an invoice;
-
Bridgeman Antiques confirms a reservation.
Bridgeman Antiques reserves the right to refuse an order without stating reasons.
Article 6 – Prices
All prices are in euros unless stated otherwise.
Unless otherwise indicated, prices exclude transport, import duties, VAT, assembly, packaging, or other costs.
Additional costs may apply for international deliveries.
Obvious pricing errors may be corrected.
Article 7 – Payment
Invoices must be paid within 14 days of the invoice date, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
For custom work, reservations, export, or international shipments, full prepayment may be required.
In case of late payment, the buyer is in default by operation of law.
From that moment, statutory interest and all collection costs are due.
Bridgeman Antiques may suspend deliveries until full payment has been received.
Article 8 – Retention of title
All delivered goods remain the property of Bridgeman Antiques until full payment has been received.
Until that moment, the buyer may not pledge, sell, or transfer the goods.
Bridgeman Antiques is entitled to reclaim goods in case of non-payment.
Article 9 – Delivery and transport
Delivery times are indicative and not strict deadlines.
Delays do not entitle the buyer to compensation or termination.
Delivery takes place:
-
ex warehouse/showroom;
-
via own transport;
-
via external carrier;
-
via international freight forwarder.
Risk transfers to the buyer as soon as the goods are collected or handed over to the carrier, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
The buyer must ensure proper accessibility, sufficient passageways, floors, elevators, and safe delivery conditions.
Additional costs due to waiting time, failed delivery, or difficult access are borne by the buyer.
Article 10 – International shipments
For exports outside the Netherlands, import duties, VAT, customs costs, storage costs, and local charges are borne by the buyer unless agreed otherwise.
Delays due to customs, border controls, or carriers are outside the responsibility of Bridgeman Antiques.
The buyer is responsible for providing correct contact details and required documents.
Article 11 – Duty to inspect and complaints
The buyer must inspect the goods immediately upon receipt.
Visible damage or deviations must be reported in writing within 48 hours.
Hidden defects must be reported in writing within 7 days of discovery.
Complaints do not suspend payment obligations.
Returns are only accepted with prior written approval.
Article 12 – Consumer rights / withdrawal
Where legally applicable, a consumer has the right to withdraw from a distance purchase within 14 days.
Exceptions apply, including but not limited to:
-
custom-made goods;
-
specially ordered goods;
-
business purchases;
-
goods that cannot be returned due to their nature;
-
goods damaged due to use after delivery.
Return transport and risk of return are borne by the buyer unless legally determined otherwise.
Article 13 – Cancellation and reservation
Reservations are only final after confirmation and any required deposit.
In case of cancellation, Bridgeman Antiques may charge incurred costs, storage costs, and depreciation.
Deposits are in principle non-refundable unless agreed otherwise.
Article 14 – Liability
Bridgeman Antiques is only liable for direct damage resulting directly from intent or gross negligence.
Any liability is limited to:
-
the invoice amount of the relevant object, or
-
the amount paid out by the insurer.
Bridgeman Antiques is not liable for:
-
indirect damage;
-
consequential damage;
-
loss of revenue;
-
transport damage caused by third parties;
-
normal age-related defects;
-
discoloration, wood movement, cracks, or wear consistent with age.
Article 15 – Force majeure
Force majeure means any circumstance beyond the reasonable control of Bridgeman Antiques.
This includes, among others:
-
illness;
-
fire;
-
transport problems;
-
war;
-
strikes;
-
customs issues;
-
pandemics;
-
government measures.
During force majeure, obligations may be suspended.
Article 16 – Storage
If the buyer does not collect goods in time, Bridgeman Antiques may charge storage costs.
After a reasonable period, Bridgeman Antiques may terminate the agreement or resell the goods.
Article 17 – Intellectual property
All texts, photos, advertisements, descriptions, and website content remain the property of Bridgeman Antiques.
Use without written permission is prohibited.
Article 18 – Privacy
Personal data is processed solely for the execution of the agreement and in accordance with applicable privacy laws.
Article 19 – Disputes and applicable law
All agreements are governed exclusively by Dutch law.
Disputes shall be submitted to the competent court in the district where Bridgeman Antiques is established, unless mandatory law provides otherwise.
Article 20 – Final provision
If any provision is null or voidable, the remaining provisions remain fully in force. The relevant provision shall be replaced by one that reflects the original intent as closely as possible.
