Shipping & Delivery – Bridgeman Antiques

At Bridgeman Antiques, we carefully deliver furniture, antiques, artworks, and unique pieces within the Netherlands and worldwide. As many of our goods are unique, fragile, heavy, or valuable, we handle every delivery with appropriate care.

We work with reliable couriers, specialized furniture transporters, and international freight forwarders.

Delivery within the Netherlands

Small parcels

Smaller items such as decoration, mirrors, lighting, or accessories are shipped via regular parcel services such as PostNL, DHL, or comparable carriers.

  • Shipping typically within 1 to 3 working days after receipt of payment

  • Carefully packed with protective materials

  • Track & trace where available

  • Rates depend on size, weight, and destination

Fragile or high-risk goods are shipped only upon consultation.

Large furniture and heavy objects

Larger pieces such as cabinets, tables, display cases, sofas, and heavy antique objects are delivered via furniture transport or courier.

  • Delivery typically within 1 to 3 weeks

  • Route planning is coordinated in consultation

  • Many deliveries are faster when combined with existing routes

  • Delivery standard to front door / ground floor unless agreed otherwise

If upper floors, staircases, elevators, or assembly are required, we kindly ask you to inform us in advance.

International delivery within the EU

We regularly deliver to countries including Belgium, Germany, France, Luxembourg, Austria, Spain, Italy, and other EU countries.

Method

Depending on size and destination, we deliver via:

  • specialized furniture couriers

  • shared international routes

  • private transport

  • pallet transport

  • freight forwarders for larger shipments

Indicative delivery times

  • Belgium / Germany: often 1 to 2 weeks

  • France / Luxembourg: 1 to 3 weeks

  • Southern Europe: 2 to 5 weeks

  • Depending on route planning, season, and transport capacity

Advantages within the EU

  • No import duties within the EU

  • Simpler customs-free delivery

  • Faster transit times compared to outside Europe

International delivery outside the EU

Important outside the EU

For deliveries outside the European Union, additional costs may apply, such as:

  • import duties

  • local VAT / sales tax

  • customs clearance fees

  • port charges

  • customs inspections

  • storage costs in case of delay

These costs are normally borne by the buyer, unless agreed otherwise in advance.

Delivery times outside the EU

  • United Kingdom: often 1 to 4 weeks

  • Switzerland: 1 to 4 weeks

  • United States: approximately 3 to 8 weeks depending on method

  • Other countries upon request

Customs checks may cause delays beyond our control.

Packaging & protection

We take great care in packaging. Depending on the object, we use:

  • sturdy cardboard protection

  • bubble wrap

  • corner protection

  • stretch wrap

  • wooden crates where necessary

  • palletizing for heavy items

Our goal is the safe arrival of every object.

Collection by appointment

You are of course welcome to collect your purchase by appointment at our showroom / storage location.

We assist with loading where possible. Transport means and securing remain the responsibility of the buyer.

Important before delivery

Please check in advance:

  • passageways and door openings

  • stairwells / elevator dimensions

  • accessibility for truck or van

  • parking availability

  • assistance for heavy goods if needed

If delivery is not possible due to insufficient access, additional costs may apply.

Transport damage or reporting

Please inspect your delivery immediately upon receipt.

Any transport damage or visible discrepancies should be reported in writing within 48 hours, including photos.
