Early 19th Century English Mahogany Linen Press Cabinet, c.1820–1840
Early 19th Century English Mahogany Linen Press Cabinet, c.1820–1840
A beautiful and increasingly rare small-sized English mahogany linen press, dating from approximately 1820–1840. Its compact proportions make this a highly desirable and unusual example, as most surviving linen presses are significantly larger.
Behind the elegant panelled doors are three original pull-out linen trays, perfect for storing clothing, linens or accessories. The lower section features two short drawers above one full-width drawer, all fitted with their original brass swan-neck handles.
The cabinet still retains its original working key and has developed a rich mahogany colour and beautiful antique patina over nearly 200 years.
The cabinet shows age-related wear and signs of use, consistent with its age. Please study the photographs carefully, as they form part of the description.
A wonderful, practical and decorative piece that fits beautifully into both classic and contemporary interiors, especially where space is limited.
